A 10% reduction in flow surface (caused by 1mm scaling layer in a 25 mm tube) will increase pressure drop which in turn requires 30% more pump energy (cubic law) to overcome. Alternatively, this means a lower flow rate which adds to the speed of heat transfer and overall system performance.

The fouling factor that is commonly considered in system design (between 25-100% of added heat exchange surface) can be omitted since the fouling will no longer occur. Smaller units mean less CAPEX.

►AUTOMATIC AND REGULAR

Once EQOBRUSH system is installed and running smoothly every 4 hours there will be an automatic cleaning cycle. It doesn’t require any maintenance other than an annual routine inspection. Brushes have a 100% retention rate and a lifespan of 3-5 years.

►SIMPLE PRINCIPLE OF OPERATION

Reverse the water flow to the condenser via the patented reversal valve and propel the brushes up and down the tubes using the power of the water. The electric actuator runs but a few hours (accumulated) per year and does not wear and tear. The energy uptake of the Eqobrush system is just a few dozens of kWh annually.

►NO DAMAGE TO THE TUBES

The nylon brushes that go through the tube powered by the water flow are absolutely harmless to the tubes of the heat exchanger or condenser. Tough enough to remove the fouling and scaling (before crystallization sets in) but gentle enough to leave the (copper) tubes intact. Compare it to the effect of the toothbrush on the enamel of your teeth.

►DURABLE IN USE

The robustly constructed valve will outlive your chiller or condenser and depending on the fouling level of the cooling tower water the brushes will last 3-5 years until replacement.

TUBE CLEANING BRUSHES AND OTHER COMPONENTS OF EQOBRUSH SYSTEM

·Brush


The cleaning function within circular tubes requires a water flow velocity in minimum of 0.6 m/s at a pressure drop of 0.06 bar. For elliptic tubes the velocity in minimum must be 1.0 m/s.
The friction resistance between bristles and the internal wall of the tube reduces the brush velocity to half of the water velocity. This velocity difference between cooling water flow and brush improves the splash-out of the soluble fouling particles. There is no grinding on the natural protection layer of the heat transfer surfaces or protective layers whatsoever.
The materials of brush caps, bristles and internal wire are resistant against any kind of cooling water (for example: city, ground, surface and sea water) up to water temperatures of 100°C. Special materials for hire temperature are also available.
The assortment of cleaning brushes is designed for a diameter range from 10mm to 24mm in case of circular tubes, for elliptic tubes there is a special design available.
The cleaning cycle should be every 2 hours for polluted water like filtered brackish water out of sea’s and lakes up to every 4 hours for standard treated open type evaporative cooling systems. The life time of the brushes vary from 1 to 5 years up to the water quality used.
 
 

·Catch Baskets


The set of catch baskets includes many sizes to meet all tube diameters according to the metric and British dimensioning systems. In general, the connection will be executed by laminating with a special adhesive resulting in a save adhesion at the tube end for many years. But an absolute clean and grease free contact surface in the range of the sockets mouthpiece will be essential.
Another possibility of the connection is the shrinking method, if the tubes have an excess length of 10 mm or more. The required free space for the different tube diameters and their spacing essential, please find out from our data sheets (download section).
The releasable connection between mouthpiece and basket enables very simple to exchange the brushes and/or their inspection, if required.The catch baskets are not subject to wear and tear.
SPECIAL REVERSAL VALVE - SWING-BOX

Reversal Valve is used to reverse or change the flow in the tubes of the equipment, usually heat exchangers and chiller condensers. The switch of the flow can be done manually and automatically on a regular basis, by programming the schedule according to the needs of your operation.
 

Actuators


The combination of rotating drive system and the worm gear unit was a success of our special reversing valve. It offers the selection of moving periods and moving forces for all armature sizes and operation conditions in optimum.
The electric motor drives via worm gear the shaft of the valve. Just in time, after arrival of the switched end position the rotating will be stopped by the limit switch. After the end of the remaining time defined in the reverse position it follows the way back to the normal flow automatically.

Control Box


The control panel carries the components required for the automatic operation.
Any time wanted between 15 minutes and 24 hours can be selected as an interval between cleaning cycles, for the remaining time in reverse position a maximum of 3 minutes is provided. All switching positions are affixed according to the actual operation conditions before delivery at site.
Additional cleaning-cycles can be initiated at any time via a manual switch.
A built-in counting device registers all cycles completed.
As a precaution measure, in case the actuator valve blocks it will give an alarm and immediately return to the original position. The automatic operation then remains in the breakdown position until the pressure switch is manually reset.
The EQOBRUSH system operates completely independent and does not interfere with any of the processes. The switch board therefore does not need to be connected to the overall process control system.
